Celebrating the life of

Raymond Donald Suelflow

Passed away on February 03, 2024

Raymond Donald Suelflow

Raymond Donald Suelflow, beloved husband, father, and friend, departed from this world on February 3, 2024. He was born on October 18, 1933, to Arnold and Marge Suelflow. Throughout his remarkable life, Ray exemplified unwavering devotion, strength, and kindness.

Ray's life was profoundly intertwined with that of his cherished wife, Marcia Erika Fandrich, whom he adored for 53 years. Their journey together was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering commitment, especially as Marcia faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. Ray stood faithfully by her side as her constant companion and caregiver, embodying the true essence of love and devotion.

Ray and Marcia were blessed with two children: Lisa Ryan, married to Jeff Ryan, and David Suelflow, married to Mary Suelflow. Their family expanded to include five grandchildren: Taylor, Megan, and Jake from Lisa and Jeff, and Aislinn and Zach from David and Mary.

Ray embarked on his academic journey at the University of Wisconsin before serving his country in the army stationed in El Paso, Texas. Upon his return, he pursued his passion for Electrical Engineering, earning a degree from the University of Wisconsin. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Marcia, and their union began.

Professionally, Ray thrived at IBM, where his ingenuity and dedication earned him two patents. His career took him and his family to various places, including Wappingers Falls, New York, Reston, Virginia, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, and Boca Raton, Florida. The highlight of their IBM journey was their time in Paris and Nice, France, where they embraced the opportunity to explore the world together.

Upon retiring, Ray and Marcia settled at The Landings on Skidaway Island, Georgia, where they indulged in their passions for golf, tennis, and socializing. Ray's involvement extended to his community and church, where he served as a dedicated member of Skidaway Island Methodist Church and president of the Republican Club. He also contributed his time and expertise as a member

of the Architectural Review Board, leaving an indelible mark on the community he cherished.

Raymond Donald Suelflow will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we find solace in knowing that his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Skidaway Island Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation the Alzheimer’s Association.

We will miss Ray, who was founding member of "International 2000", where we shared overseas living and work experiences at each other's homes monthly for close to twenty years

- Roger & Adriana Fisher, Savannah, GA

Ray served as the back nine chairman for the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf here in Savannah for many years directing a large group of Skidaway Island marshals. His contributions definitely made that event a success. He was a fine man and I enjoyed working with him. May he rest in peace.

- Charles Williams, Savannah, Georgia

Sending my love and deepest condolences to all. I am saddened by Ray’s passing, it feels like the end of an era from our lives. Ray, who I mostly knew as Mr. Suelflow, and Marcia were dear friends of my parents. Our families, including my sisters, spent many a time hanging out together. They are happy memories. To Lisa and David, and your families, I pray for love to hold you close during this tender time.
